Obituary

William Edgar Lormand, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, was born on January 27, 1942, in Jennings, Louisiana, to Wilbert E. Lormand and Mary Daisy St. Cyr Lormand. He passed away peacefully on May 4, 2026, in Oberlin, Louisiana, at the age of 84.

Edgar was known for his deep passion for children's ministry. He lovingly dedicated himself to his bus route by checking on children and leaving each of them a piece of bubble gum every Saturday before they were picked up on Sunday morning for Sunday School. As a devoted member of the First Pentecostal Church of Lake Charles, his faith and commitment inspired those around him.

A skilled carpenter by trade, Edgar built homes throughout Lake Charles, Louisiana, Austin, Texas, Kinder, Louisiana, and many other cities. His craftsmanship left a lasting legacy in the communities he served. Edgar was also musically gifted, playing several instruments including guitar, strum stick, piano, and performing gospel bluegrass music. He cherished time outdoors, especially fishing and hunting, and was affectionately called "Uncle Edgar" by all who knew him.

Edgar was a man with a large family and an even bigger heart. He was passionate toward others, outgoing, and loved sharing stories, touching the lives of many with his kindness and warmth.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Linda Lormand; his loving daughter, Regina Sermon, and her husband, Edward Sermon; grandchildren Aaron Sermon (Hannah), Jordan Sermon (Haley), Allen Lormand (Katie), Tyler Ezell, and Colten Lormand; great-grandchildren, Aryce Sermon, Archer Buck Sermon, and Jonah Ezell; sister, Glenda Baldwin (Pete); and many cherished friends and family.

Edgar was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbert and Mary Daisy Lormand; his son, Kirt Allen Lormand; and siblings, Wade Lormand and Shirley Nevils.

Edgar's homegoing service celebrates a life filled with love, faith, service, and joy. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who were blessed to know him.
