William "Bubba" Hunton, 67, of Harris County, Texas, passed away on August 18, 2026, just days shy of his 68th birthday.

Born on August 22, 1958, Bubba lived a life defined by honor, courage, and an unwavering commitment to serving his country and community. He was a devoted Marine, a legendary law enforcement officer, and a deeply loyal husband and friend.

After honorably serving in the United States Marine Corps, Bubba began his distinguished career with the Harris County Sheriff's Office in May 1980. Over 35 years of dedicated service, he protected and served his community across multiple critical assignments. He began in the Detention Bureau before transferring to the Patrol Bureau. His keen eye for detail led him to become an accident investigator, and he ultimately spent the remainder of his career serving with distinction in the Homeland Security Bureau's Narcotics Division until his retirement in August 2015.

Outside of uniform, Bubba was an avid photographer. He found his greatest joy and relaxation spending time with his beloved wife at Sylvan Beach, capturing memories and enjoying the simple pleasures of life.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 44 years, Michelle Hunton, and a host of tightly knit, lifelong friends who became family.

He was preceded in death by his loving parents, William and Doris Hunton.

Bubba will be long remembered for his impactful career, his fierce dedication to others, and the profound legacy of service he leaves behind.

Graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, August 27, 2026, at VA Houston National Cemetery, Houston, Texas. Bro. Don will be officiating.
