Obituary

Wallace Urshan Wrinkle, a devoted family man, dedicated hard worker, and man of steady faith, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2026, at his home in LeBlanc, Louisiana, at the age of 95.

Born on June 19, 1931, in Clarks, Louisiana, to the late Rev. James Eugene Wrinkle and Nora Birthu "Bert" Savage Wrinkle, Wallace grew up grounded in strong family ties and faith. Spirited and adventurous, he joined the Merchant Marines at just 15 years old, sailing across the globe to Europe and South America. Yet no matter how far his travels took him, his heart always led him back home-and specifically to his childhood sweetheart, Marteen Carolyn Fuller.

The story goes that they reconnected at a Pentecostal Louisiana Camp Meeting in Tioga, and several months later, Carolyn mailed him a Valentine-and that sealed the deal! Shortly thereafter, Wallace drove his truck to Gilbertown, Alabama, sought and received her parents' blessing, and proposed to her. They were united in marriage on June 8, 1950, in Gilbertown. Together, they built a life defined by loyalty, deep affection, and shared devotion, celebrating over 70 years of marriage before her passing.

In 1951, Wallace began a distinguished 40-year career with the Mobil Oil Company. Known for his exceptional work ethic and reliability, his service took him from Mamou, Louisiana, to Beaumont, Texas, and, in 1984, to Saudi Arabia, where he served as a supervisor at Mobil's Yanpet refinery for five years.

Following his retirement from Mobil in 1991, Wallace embraced a life closer to the land. He purchased a rice farm in LeBlanc, Louisiana-where his father and stepmother, Etta Baggett, pastored the LeBlanc Pentecostal Church-and spent many fulfilling years as a successful cattle rancher.

Wallace was a man who found joy in life's simple, meaningful moments. Whether he was out on his farm atop his John Deere tractor, tending to his cattle, fishing in his pond, preparing for deer season, or carefully propagating fruit trees, he was always happiest outdoors and surrounded by the land he cared for. He loved picking his guitar, but above all, he treasured staying involved in the lives and activities of his children and family.

Wallace possessed an infectious sense of humor, a quick wit, and a heart full of generosity. He loved nothing more than telling a good joke and bringing lighthearted laughter into a room. People naturally looked up to him-not only for his strength and accomplishments, but for his character, warmth, and steady integrity.

A longtime faithful member of Eastgate Pentecostal Church in Vidor, Texas, and later LeBlanc Pentecostal Church, Wallace leaves behind a lasting spiritual legacy. In March, he was honored as the eldest member of LeBlanc Pentecostal Church by Rev. Alfred Gibson, and following his 95th birthday in June, he stood before his congregation to share his life's testimony-reflecting with gratitude on a long, blessed life and his decades of marriage to the love of his life.

Wallace was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marteen Carolyn Fuller Wrinkle; his parents; his brothers, Daniel Eugene Wrinkle and James Erwin Wrinkle; his daughter, Beverly Janene Wrinkle; his grandchildren, Samuel Jason Morace and Crystal Beth Flanigan, and step-grandson Christian Shelby Ryan Ford.

He is survived by his son Daniel Wallace Wrinkle; his daughter Wanda Carole Wrinkle Ford and her husband Dr. Jon Buck Ford; his son Edward Allen Wrinkle and his fiancé Sherri Wood and her son Matthew Wood; his cherished grandchildren, Robert Lee Flanigan, Christy Janene Morace, Melodi Michelle Wrinkle, April Corissa Flanigan, Misty Joy Flanigan Hilsabeck and her husband Lee Alan Hilsabeck, Melissa Danae Wrinkle Bowman and her husband Neal Bowman, Ashley Lynn Wrinkle, Kelly Larissa Wrinkle, step-grandson Jon Lewis Olsen Ford; and several great-grandchildren; alongside an extended family of loved ones and friends who will miss him dearly.

Family will receive friends Sunday September, 27th, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at 3:00 p.m. at LeBlanc Pentecostal Church, 177 Martin Tram Road, LeBlanc, Louisiana.

Interment to follow at McRill Cemetery Kinder, Louisiana.

The family extends their deepest gratitude to Brighton Bridge Hospice, Riley Smith and Sons Funeral Home, and Rev. Alfred and Hazel Gibson for their tender care, support, and ministry during Wallace's final days.
