Thor Micah McCaughey, 64, of the Nibletts Bluff community outside of Vinton, was born February 19, 1961, and passed away in a local hospital on April 22, 2025.

He provided for his family through his work as an inspector in the Petrochemical Industry. He was a lifelong member of the Vinton Methodist Church where his faith and his family were his priorities.

He had the vision and creativity to take discarded items and turn them into treasures. He loved
scuba diving to bring up old cypress sinker logs from the Sabine River before milling them on
his personal sawmill to be used on his many creative projects. He enjoyed restoring his wood
canvas canoes. Hunting trips with friends and white water canoeing were two of his favorite
pastimes. He enjoyed leading his family on hiking trips near his property in Northern Arkansas.

He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Amanda McCaughey; children, Jacob McCaughey and Zane McCaughey; parents, Don and Lorraine McCaughey; siblings, Cass McCaughey and wife Regina, Brett McCaughey and wife Tammy and Fara Cloud and husband Shannon; along with numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Family will receive friends from 9:00a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 25, 2025 at Vinton Methodist Church, 1100 Horridge St., Vinton, Louisiana. Pastor Jody Robert and Rev. Rob Tibbitts will be officiating.
