It is with deep love and sorrow that this family announces the passing of Thedious Gill Kibodeaux, 91, who devoted her life to her family, her faith, and the people she loved most.
She was born as the oldest of nine siblings in Georgia, where she spent her early years helping care for her younger brothers and sisters. As a young girl, she moved to Texas and later made her home in Orange, Texas, where she would build her life and legacy.
She met her future husband, John Kibodeaux, shortly after high school, and together they shared 43 years of marriage. Their life together was not without challenges, but it was one marked by endurance, commitment, and family. Together, they raised not only their children but also played a central role in the lives of their grandchildren.
She was a woman of deep Christian faith, guided by love, grace, and a strong sense of right and wrong. She was not perfect, and she would be the first to say so, but she lived her values in the ways that mattered most: through forgiveness, patience, and the steady care she gave to others.
Her hands were rarely still. She worked for 35 years in the meat department at Market Basket, a job she carried out with dedication and strength. Even after long days of work, she returned home and continued caring for and loving her grandchildren, as well as her family. She spent her evenings cooking meals, playing games at the dining table, and being present with those she loved.
She had a gift in the kitchen and an even greater gift in how she shared it. Her baking filled homes, church gatherings, and holidays with warmth. She expressed her love through food, through service, and through showing up, consistently and faithfully, for every Christmas, birthday, and those Saturday night runs to Dairy Queen with whichever of her grandchildren were there, turning simple moments into something special.
She also had a talent for sewing and created beautiful clothing for her family. But more than anything, she gave her time. Evenings spent on the front porch swing, talking about life and sharing stories, became some of the most treasured memories of her family.
She loved simple joys, playing board games and dominoes, humming gospel songs like "How Great Thou Art" as she went about her day, and finding comfort in music and routine.
Above all, she will be remembered for her devotion to her family. She had a helping hand in raising many of her grandchildren and gave generously of herself in countless ways, always striving to make life better for those she loved.
She was the steady foundation of her family, a true rock and the heart of generations who will carry her love forward. She was deeply loved, and she will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her children, Cathy Tompkins, and Sandra Kibodeaux; grandchildren, Jody Haley, Cheri Roberts, Michelle Rodriguez, John Kibodeaux, Crystil Biscamp, Barbara Lutz, Aubrey Free, Shawn Stout, and Shanna Smith; 18 great grandchildren; 8 great great grandchildren; and 5 siblings.
She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Edna Gill; husband of 43 years, John Kibodeaux; children, Deborah Kibodeaux Ellis, and John Kibodeaux, Jr.; and 3 siblings.
