Obituary

Reeves - Tammy Elam Gary was born on December 31, 1959, and passed away on February 16, 2025, at the age of 65.

Tammy was such a beautiful soul inside and out. An amazing mother and grandmother.  A selfless person who loved her family and loved giving to others whenever she could. Everyone always loved going to visit maw-maw and paw-paw, and we all enjoyed sitting together on the porch watching them play. Tammy always had a mountain of toys for them and some candy or cookies. Many times, she had a fabulous meal cooked from scratch to share with us. She loved making birthday cakes for the grandkids for each of their birthdays. Many, many, times she would send bags of toys, clothes, or candy home with us for the kids that she had gotten while penny shopping - one of her favorite things to do.

She made holidays magical. She went all out with the decorations in her house and always had punch in her antique punch bowl.We enjoyed listening to her stories about her children when they were little. Her eyes would always light up talking about her kids. She told us several times that this is the best time of our lives so we better enjoy it while we can. She loved Elvis Presley. She still had books and posters of Elvis from her youth. She named her son Aaron after him. Elvis's middle name was Aaron.

She loved flowers. She had annual flowers in her yard that she planted. You better not step on maw maw's flowers! She used to give us flower seed packets that she had penny shopped which we would go home and plant. She loved playing cards, and she was very good at it. There was a group of people they would get together and play cards with Often. Most times she and Philip would come in after midnight from playing cards with lots of money she had won. She always said she won, and Philip lost.

She loved her husband, Philip. They were always there for each other like two halves of a whole. They were married pretty much all their adult lives and are forever soulmates.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Philip Karl Gary; children, Tara Lynn Gary Dotson & husband, Michael Dotson, Sr., Laura Anne Duplantis and husband, Dustin Duplantis, Philip Aaron Gary & wife, Angel Gary; grandchildren, Michael Dotson, Jr., Drake Dotson, Jaxson Duplantis, Eudora Welch, Teagan Gary, and Taron Gary; great grandchild, Seth Allen Dotson; brother, Scott Elam.

She is preceded in passing by her parents, Larry & Irma Elam, brother, Darrell Elam.

Pallbearers are Craig Elam, Wesley Elam, Michael Dotson, Jr., J.P. Whetstine, Eddie Gary, Jr., and Brian Whetstine. Honorary pallbearers are Drake Dotson, Jaxson Duplantis, and Seth Dotson.
