Obituary

Stella Mae Garsee, age 98, of DeQuincy, LA passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, July 30, 2025, surrounded by family at her residence.  She was born April 18, 1927 in DeQuincy, the only child born to Wilburn "Bud" and Doris Martin.  ‍On September 14, 1945 she married the love of her life, Conley Ross Garsee, with whom she shared 45 wonderful years of marriage.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, as well as other cherished family members.  She is survived by her daughter Gloria and son-in-law Rev. Robert Brooks, her son Martin Wayne and daughter-in-law Debra Garsee; grandchildren Adana (Tracey) Robinson, Landon (Missy) Rigmaiden, Kristi (Jeff) Garner, and Kraig (Kristen) Garsee; great-grandchildren Jordyn (Drew) Sexton, Delenn Robinson, August Garner, Ava Garner, Kash Garsee, and Kaden Garsee; and great-great grandson Conley Sexton.  She also leaves behind many other family members and friends who will dearly miss her.

‍Mrs. Garsee touched many lives through her constant service to others, whether it was enriching the lives of her family as a homemaker, church children as a Sunday school teacher, or hospital patients as a Pink Lady.  Her sweet spirit and steadfast faith brought peace and comfort to all those around her.

She loved sewing, spending time with her children, taking vacations with her family, doing puzzles, and playing board games with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. What she loved about games was looking sweet and demure and hitting you with two Draw Fours back-to-back in Uno.  She especially loved coming back to her home on Duff St., and attending her church.  She was a lifelong member of The Pentecostal Church of DeQuincy, a prayer warrior, and later in life, a prolific Facebook blogger, authoring hundreds of posts encouraging her readers and giving praise to her God.

If you would like, consider making a donation to Mother's Memorial, an organization that Stella supported for over 60 years. Your contribution would be greatly appreciated. Donations can be made through The Pentecostal Church online giving site.  Cash/Checks can also be given to TPC with Mother's Memorial in memo.  Please include in memory of Stella.

Visitation will take place 2:00pm - 4:00pm, Saturday, August 2, 2025, at The Pentecostal Church of DeQuincy in DeQuincy, LA, followed by the funeral service at 4:00pm.  Burial will take place 9:00am, Sunday, August 3, 2025, at McFatter Cemetery.
