Shirley Mae Brindley, 84, of Starks, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 3, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on December 17, 1941, Shirley spent a lifetime spreading joy, warmth, and unconditional love to everyone she met. She was the gentle heart of her family, known for her sweet demeanor, her welcoming home, and her innate ability to make every single person feel truly special. Whether she was deeply lost in her library books, watching Scooby-Doo, playing bingo, or listening to her favorite Elvis tunes, Shirley lived her life with grace and endless compassion. Her home was always a sanctuary filled with love, and her presence brought an undeniable peace to all who knew her.
Shirley was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and an extraordinary grandmother. She leaves behind a lasting legacy of kindness, resilience, and deep family bonds.
She is survived by her daughter, Patti Cradic, and husband Billy; and her sons, Tony Johnson, James Reed, and Rodney Reed. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Jaclyn and Amber and husband Koby; her great-grandchildren, Kolton, Ashlynn, Sophia, Ava, Bodie, and Axton; bonus daughter, Donna Siebrecht Wells; her bonus great-grandchildren, Lawson and Reagen; her sisters, Brenda, Susie, Sheryl, and Sandra; and a host of beloved special in-laws, nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins.
Shirley was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 52 years, Elton Brindley; her mother, Helen Ashworth; her father, Sam Humberson; brothers Samuel Humberson Jr., Johnny Humberson, Sr., Gary Humberson, Marion Humberson, Terry Humberson and Michael Humberson.
Special thanks to All Saints Hospice and her nurses Brenda Fontenot, Ms Callie, and Ms. Lauren. Also a special thank you to Dr. Loyd Kelly and staff for the excellent care through the years.
Family will receive friends from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m., Monday, July 13, 2026, at Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. 4th Street. DeQuincy, Louisiana. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at VFW Cemetery, Starks, Louisiana. Rev. Alfred Gibson will be officiating.
By request of the family, in lieu of flowers donations can be made at Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home.
