Obituary

Rodney W. Alston was born March 2, 1947, and passed away October 13, 2026, at the age of 79.

“

Rodney's faith, love for his family, and strong work ethic were at the heart of who he was.

Rodney was a God-fearing man who loved the Lord and proudly served his country in the National Guard. He was a master mechanic at Calcasieu Steel & Pipe before going to work for Gravity Drainage, where he retired at the age of 70. He was witty, honest, loved his family, was a hardworker, and could fix just about anything. Rodney's faith, love for his family, and strong work ethic were at the heart of who he was. He leaves behind a lifetime of precious memories, a legacy of love, and a piece of his heart in everyone who knew him.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Kay Alston; children, Darla Alston (Dave), and Darian Alston (Sherie); grandchildren, Elizabeth Wood, Taner Gilley (Kyla), and Ashton Alston (Matti); great grandchildren, Sarah, Piper, Liam and Levi; brother, Sam Hodges; and one he loved as his own, Alfred "Bubba" Guy, Jr.

He is preceded in death by his parents Woodrow Alston and Bonnie Cryer; sister, LaVonne Julien; brother, Robert J. Cryer (Bob); grandmother, Odis Pinder; and beloved aunt, Donnie Sue Baggett.

Family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m., on October 16, 2026, at The Pentecostal Church 301 W 4th St, DeQuincy, La 70633.
