Phillip Vaughn Hooker II was born on June 28th, 1990, and passed away on November 4th, 2024, at the age of 34.

Phillip loved with all of his heart. He loved his friends who were ultimately the family he created. He loved to cook on his Big Green Egg and serve others especially in the diesel community. He was proud of the family that he and his wife made. He cherished their sweet baby girl and handsome dog, Leon. He loved to travel and be the light in the room. God really transformed and reformed Phil throughout this journey that he was on. He didn't lose the fight to cancer. Cancer made him into the Godly man he left this earth as. God presented him with this journey, and he prevailed. He fully surrendered and allowed the Lord to truly work on his heart, forgive past hurts, break generational curses, and refine him.

There is no doubt that Phil went home to our Lord and Savior, healed head to toe. Praise Jesus for His blessings. He touched so many lives and made a lasting impression. Phillip, Kailey, and Margaret prayed daily to be a ministry to others and truly feel like that has been accomplished and will always live on.

Phillip is survived by his wife, Kailey Istre Hooker; daughter, Margaret Anne; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Charlie & Candie Istre; sister-in-law, Kortney Istre McMillian & husband, Skylar; sister, Stephanie Hooker; niece, Madison; a host of family and friends.

He is preceded in passing by his parents, Phillip Vaughn Hooker and Cindy Smith.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m., Sunday, November 10, 2024, in the Reed Chapel at Riley Smith & Sons. Visitation will continue Monday, November 11, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 10:00 a.m., in the Reed Chapel at Riley Smith & Sons, 315 N 14th Street, Kinder, Louisiana. The Rev. Josh Bigwood will be officiating. Interment will follow at Green Oak Cemetery, Kinder, Louisiana.
