Oakdale- Pernie Johnson was born July 24, 1933, and passed away February 8, 2025, at the age of 91. Pernie was a dedicated member of Gospel Lighthouse for many years. Mannie and Pernie raised thousands of dollars for the building fund. She also enjoyed cooking for the church. Pernie loved her husband, Mannie, and their children very much. Over the years, she quilted hundreds of quilts and baby quilts that she gifted to many. She cooked the best dumplings, biscuits, and peanut brittle. She loved people and took care of many. She enjoyed all her grandbabies. She loved her family, church, and church family more than anything.

She is survived by her children, Wilfred Willis, Judy Glenn and husband Rev. Johnny, Andrew Willis and wife Barbara, Lamar Johnson and wife Linda, and Buford Johnson and wife Walterine; grandchildren, Valerie Granger, Johnny Glenn Jr., Jody Glenn, Christy Nolen, Jessica Stiltner, David Willis, Jill Willis, Cindy Coker, Kyle Mutina, and Erin Jackson; 22 great grandchildren, 29 great great grandchildren; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Nelson "Mannie" Johnson; 1 infant child; great grandson, Joshua Granger; great great grandchildren, Riggs Willis and Renlynn Willis; parents, Andrew Jackson Willis and Lucinda Willis Rodriguez; and sisters, Vernie West and Merdie Myers.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Glenn III, Chris Tichy Jr., Jerron Willis, Jonavon Willis, Dawson Willis, and Westly Wade Jr.

Family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m., Sunday, February 9, 2025, and continuing from 8:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 10, 2025, at Gospel Lighthouse, Oakdale, Louisiana. Pastor Shannon Buxton and Rev. James Vandergriff will be officiating. Interment to follow at Oakhill Cemetery, Oakdale, Louisiana.
