Obituary

Paul David Hudson, 67, was born November 18, 1958, and passed away August 26, 2026, with his loving wife, Jackie.

Paul dedicated more than 20 years of his life to Kirby Forest Products before retiring. He then continued his career with the Department of Corrections, where he worked for more than 20 years before retiring again. Paul was proud of his work and could often be found talking about his years on the job and the people and experiences that meant so much to him.

In his free time, Paul enjoyed hunting, watching television, and collecting guns, knives, and coins.

Above all, Paul loved his wife and daughters dearly. They were a very special part of his life, and the love he had for them was evident to everyone who knew him.

He is survived by his daughter, Katie; siblings, Brent Hudson and wife Alice, and Karen Rankin; nieces, nephew, great nieces, great nephew; and beloved cats, Baby and Tom.

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Kathy; parents, David and Connie Hudson.

Jacqueline "Jackie" Hudson, 74, was born January 22, 1952, and passed away August 26, 2026, with her loving husband, Paul.

Jackie was a loving wife, mother, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Jackie retired as a home health nurse and truly cared about the people she served. She loved telling stories about visiting her patients and sharing the special moments and memories she made with them.

More than anything in this world, Jackie loved her husband and her daughters. Her family was her greatest joy, and she cherished every moment she spent with them.

Jackie enjoyed playing card games with family and friends. She found a special enjoyment in word search puzzles.

She is survived by her daughter, Katie; siblings, Bill McDonald and wife Amelia, Frankie McDonald and wife Diane, and Tommy Vassar Sr.; along with numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and beloved cats, Baby and Tom.

She is preceded in death by her daughter, Kathy; stepfather and mother, Therman and Genevieve McDonald; and siblings, Lela Faye "Sissy" Jackson, Carlie Jean Powell, Patrick Langley, and Sally Ann Langley.


The Hudson family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 12, 2026, at Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. 4th Street, DeQuincy, Louisiana. Pastor Timothy Stephens will be officiating. Interment to follow at Riley Smith Memorial Park, DeQuincy, Louisiana.
