Pastor Clifton
Earl David
Jun 12, 1945 — May 3, 2025
With heavy hearts, the family of Clifton Earl David announces his peaceful passing on May 3rd, 2025. He was 79 years old. Born on June 12th, 1945, in DeQuincy, La.
He graduated from Grand Avenue High School, attended Grambling University, and served in the United States Air Force. Elder David dedicated his life to serving God and His people. He served as pastor at First Church of God in Christ in DeQuincy, La for 23 years where he was known for his warm and engaging sermons, compassionate pastoral care, dedication to the ministry, and singing "I Won't Complain".
Pastor David's influence extended far beyond the church walls. He was deeply involved in the community; as a member of the drainage board, calca board, Chambers of Commerce, and on the board for the homeless. He leaves behind a great legacy of faith, service, and love. He was a person of faith, a peacemaker, encourager, and trusted friend. He was very devoted to his family; teaching most of his grandchildren how to ride bikes, taking them fishing, and boy did he love to eat.
He was a loving husband to Louella Thomas for 55 years; his high school sweetheart; who he called his sweet pea. He leaves a beautiful legacy behind; his children, Greg David, Kendall David, Trinette (Christopher Clement Sr.) 9 amazing grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; brother, Eric Wood, and sister, Ivory Dorsey. He is preceded in death by his brother, Ezell Wood Sr., and parents, Mary Green Wood, Walter E. Wood, and Earlie David.
Clifton will be greatly missed by all who knew him; he was truly a source of joy, a walking testimony, and encouragement for many. He never met a stranger. To know him was to love him, and he loved you back. He would want us to rejoice in his homegoing and remember his favorite scripture Ephesians 3:20 "Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all we can ask or imagine, according to the power that works in us". He is now at peace in the arms of his Savior.
Family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 10, 2025, at First Church of God in Christ, 621 S Grand Ave, DeQuincy, Louisiana. Interment to follow at Paradise Cemetery, DeQuincy, Louisiana.
