Norris Dale
Jackson
Oct 23, 1940 — Feb 18, 2026
Norris Dale "Knot" Cormier Jackson has earned his eternal reward. He left his earthly home early last Wednesday morning and began his journey with a new body, finally free of pain.
Knot was born in Singer, Louisiana, and grew up in that area. Graduating from DeQuincy High School, he then joined the USA Army. He served in Korea with the 8th Army and then was stationed at Fort Bliss in Texas. He then worked offshore and was a welder for Brown & Root.
Next Norris Dale enrolled at USL in Lafayette, LA, and graduated with a BA degree in Business Administration, Accounting. Being a lawyer was always his dream and he then enrolled in LSU Law School where he obtained his Juris Doctorate degree. While attending both USL and LSU, the Jackson family lived in Melville, LA. After law school graduation, Norris Dale and family moved to Jena, LA.
Shortly after moving to Jena, Norris Dale was dealt a blow from which most would never recover. He paralyzed and was told that he would never walk again. He was new to a profession, a father to two young children and far from friends and family. But through determination, faith in God and blessed with the best caretaker in the world (along with a newfound church family), he not only walked again, he thrived. He went on to play golf, ski, fish and ride a motorcycle, to name just a few of his accomplishments as a partially recovered paraplegic.
He first practiced law with Wm Henry Sanders and then transitioned to private practice. He then became an ADA to DA Speedy O Long and served as an ADA under various district attorneys.
Norris Dale next worked as an attorney for the State of Louisiana in Alexandria, Louisiana. He retired and he and Carol then moved to Texas to be with Jimmy, Nadrid and Caris. His final move was back to Louisiana where they have been residents of Lafayette ever since.
Norris Dale Jackson is survived by his wife of 57 years, Wanda Carol Phillips Jackson; son, Brenton Jackson (Kelly); daughter, Nadrid Jackson Callender (Jimmy); and son, Weldon Jackson; grandchildren, Ava Grace Jackson, Henry Hayes Jackson, Sydney Callender Tracy, Caris Rose Callender, Owen James Jackson, Emilia Kate Jackson, Ashley Stover Zikes, Adrian Stover, and Zachary Stover; 8 great-grandchildren; one brother, Danny E Jackson; one sister, Jean Renee' Nixon; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
He is preceded in death by parents, Estelle Ashworth Yarbrough and E. L. Blackie Yarbrough; brother, Royce Kyle (Bunk) Jackson; sister, Yvonne Jackson Baukman; 3 nephews, Terry Jackson, Carlton (Corky) Baukman, and Marc Edward Jackson; and his grandparents, Rufus and Lonie Ashworth.
