Obituary

Nelvie D. Eldemire was born February 13, 1938, in Starks, Louisiana, and passed away March 31, 2026, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, at the age of 88. She was a resident of Starks, Louisiana, formerly of Hackberry, Louisiana. She lived for 40 years on Little Cayman Island, BWI.

Nelvie was a hard worker and big giver. She was an expert seamstress. She worked many jobs in Houston, TX, Lake Charles, LA, Sulphur, LA, and Cameron, LA. On Little Cayman Island she was the postmistress, librarian, and museum director. She loved to plant a garden and grow tomatoes, scotch bonnet pepper, and avocados. Her yard was full of flowers along with fruit trees of limes, guava, plums, mangoes, and bread fruit that she loved to eat and give to others.

She is survived by her siblings, Elaine D. Kingrey, Linda Faye Anderson and husband Chuck, Joyce Louise Doiron LeDoux, and Gerald Wayne Doiron; her special "younguns" that she called her children, Glen and Connie; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and loved ones.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Irvin Bruce Eldemire; parents, Vie Nettie Bass Doiron and Madison Simon Doiron; and brothers, Charles David Doiron, John Luther "JL" Doiron, and James Ray Doiron.

Pallbearers will be Glen Kingrey, Charles "Doodle" Doiron, Tony Doiron, Michael Scott, Jeromey Stanley, and Caleb Lanclos.

Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 4, 2026, at First Pentecostal Church, Starks, Louisiana. Pastor Karl Smith will be officiating. Interment to follow at Doyle Cemetery, Starks, Louisiana.
