Nelson "Paul" Oliver, born July 29, 1959, entered his eternal Heavenly home on May 7, 2026, at the age of 66. He departed this life with the blessed assurance of the promises given to us by our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. "My Father's house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you?" - John 14:2
Paul was a devoted servant of Christ and a proud convert to the Catholic faith. He attended a Cursillo retreat to help to expand his prayer life and gain knowledge about scripture and the Catholic faith. He served faithfully as an usher, was a dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus, and a cherished A.C.T.S. brother at his beloved St. Philip Neri Catholic Church. Through his work on numerous A.C.T.S. teams, Paul lived out true discipleship-helping others learn to trust, surrender, believe, and receive the abundant graces, love, and mercy offered to us by Jesus Christ.
He was a loving and devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Though Paul faced seasons when work was scarce, he never wavered in his commitment to providing for his family. Resourceful and hardworking, he relied on the many skills he had learned throughout his life laboring for local farmers, taking on any job that needed doing, and even trapping and selling furs. No matter the circumstance, Paul met every challenge with determination, humility, and an unwavering sense of responsibility to those he loved.
Those who will forever cherish his memory include his loving and faithful wife of 42 years, Lisa Cormier Oliver; his daughters, Amy Kramer and husband Tommy, and Heather Oliver. Paul's greatest earthly joy was being "PawPaw" to his six grandchildren: Chloe, Reagan, and Brant Kramer; Eli Fontenot; Garrett and Bowen Nevils. He is also survived by his sister, Becky Young, and fiancé Bobby; his sister-in-law, Rachelle Mona and husband Kelly; and his brother-in-law, Chris Cormier and companion Sherri. As well as a host of family and friends.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmy and Jeanette Young; his brother, Keith Young; his maternal grandparents, Nelson and Missie Augustine; his paternal grandparents, Collin and Ida Young; his in-laws, Doug and Priscilla Cormier and his aunt, Penny Augustine.
Pallbearers are: Eli Fontenot, Brant Kramer, Scott Carpenter, Randy Lormand, Ronald "Mann" Reeves and Raymond Hall with honorary pallbearers being Garrett and Bowen Nevils.
