Obituary

Milbre Ione Howard was born on May 5th, 1938, in DeRidder, Louisiana and went to her heavenly reward on December 12th, 2024, in San Angelo, Texas, surrounded by family.

Milbre was born to Harvey and Irene Mock, grew up in DeRidder and graduated from DeRidder High School in 1956. Following high school she worked for the U.S. Air Force in Victoria, Texas.

Milbre met the love of her life in 1959 in LaMarque, Texas. Her and Donald Lee Howard were married on September 17th, 1960, in DeRidder, Louisiana.

In 1962, they left Texas so Don could attend Western Apostolic Bible College in Stockton, California for 2 years, before returning home to Texas in 1964. While Don was attending college in Houston, Texas, Milbre gave birth to the couple's first son, Kevin Britt Howard in Pasadena, Texas. Upon completion of Bible College, they moved the young family out to the West Texas frontier and started a home missions church in Del Rio, Texas. While in Del Rio, Milbre's second son, Russell Vaughn Howard was born.

In 1968, Don was elected pastor of Calvary Pentecostal Church in Ft. Worth, Texas. He and Milbre served and pastored Calvary until 1975, when Don was hired to work at the headquarters of the United Pentecostal Church in St Louis, Missouri where they lived for two years.

In 1977, Don felt led to pastor again and was voted in as the pastor of First Pentecostal Church in Seattle, Washington, where once again he and Milbre served the church as pastor until 1984 when they resigned. During their time in Seattle, Milbre worked for the Social Security Administration for many years while supporting her husband in ministry.

Don and Milbre moved to Burleson, Texas in 2010 to be closer to their children and grandchildren. While there, Don and Milbre begin to serve in a volunteer capacity at Calvary Church, the church he pastored for 7 years previously.

Milbre Howard was known as a woman who loved God with all her heart and was a faithful supporter to her husband during their many shared years of ministry. She faithfully supported the leadership at Calvary Church and held up the pastoral staff in prayer.

She is survived by one sister, Donna Pittman of Conway, AR; two sons, Kevin Britt Howard of St Louis, MO; and Russell Vaughn Howard and his wife Josie Roth Howard of San Angelo, TX; three grandchildren, Christina Sauls and her husband Doug Sauls of Midland, TX, Donald Howard and Aleesha Howard of San Angelo, TX, three great-grandchildren; Riley Sauls, Kenzley Sauls and DougZ Sauls, all of Midland, TX, and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

Milbre was preceded in death by her loving husband, Donald Howard, father, Harvey Mock; her mother, Irene Mock; one sister, Frankie Hulett, brother in laws Joe Pittman and Lester Hulett, and daughter in law, Pamela Howard.

Milbre will be remembered as the best wife, mom, nanny, cook, supporter of her husband and servant of Jesus!

Graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at Beauregard Cemetery.
