Melba Landry Smith was born on March 14th, 1927, and passed away on, October 24th, 2024, at the age of 97.

Melba was a wonderful & caring mom, grandmother and friend. She will be missed by those she loved.

She is survived by her son, David A. Smith & wife, Laure; grandchildren, Ben Smith, Vicky Johnson, Aaron Smith, Kara Coombs, Lindsey Barrow, and Matthew Smith; 13 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild.

She is preceded in passing by her husband, J.B. Smith, Sr.; parents, Ashley & Euphrasie Landry; children, J.B. Smith, Jr., Melba Johnson, and Larry Smith; grandson, Shannon Smith; 3 brothers and 6 sisters.

The family would thank the Kinder Retirement & Rehabilitation Center for their excellent care of Melba all these years. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you donate to your favorite charity or to the Alzheimer's Association. www.alz.org

The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 29, 2024, in the Reed Chapel at Riley Smith & Sons, 315 N 14th Street, Kinder, Louisiana. Rev. Rod Nesmith will be officiating. Interment will follow at Butter's Cemetery, 381 Butters Cemetery Road, Forest Hill, Louisiana.
