Marion Lee Brandes, Jr. was born August 16,1943, and passed away December 19th, 2025, at the age of 82.

For many years, Marion worked as a systems analyst, where he was known for his sharp mind, problem-solving skills, and steady dedication. His professional life reflected his love of structure and precision, qualities that also defined his greatest passion outside of work.

A Master Gardener and proud member of the Houston Rose Society, Marion was widely admired for his extraordinary garden. His yard was not simply a garden, but a destination. Fellow gardeners and rose enthusiasts traveled from across the country just to walk its paths, study its blooms, and learn from his knowledge. He was generous with his time, eager to share advice, and deeply committed to helping others succeed in their own gardens.

Marion found joy in nurturing living things and took great pride in creating beauty that could be shared. His roses, much like the man himself, were carefully tended, quietly impressive, and unforgettable.

He is survived by his children, Anthony Brandes and wife Tammie, and Alan Brandes; grandchildren, Anthony Brandes II, Justin Brandes, and Weston Brandes; and numerous great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Frances Brandes; parents, Marion Lee Brandes Sr. and Elise Lee; and grandson, Dillon Brandes.

Cremation has been entrusted to Dorman-Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 8808 Highway 87 North, Orange, Texas.
