Marcus DeWayne Humphries, a beloved son, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2025, at the age of 21. Born on August 19, 2003, Marcus brought a vibrant energy and infectious laughter into the lives of all who knew him.
The middle child in his family, Marcus possessed a mischievous spirit and a zest for life that was truly unmatched. He was a jokester at heart, always quick with a smile and a playful jab, leaving a trail of laughter wherever he went. His boundless energy kept him constantly moving, whether he was spending quality time with his loved ones, pursuing his hobbies, or simply enjoying the company of friends.
Marcus had a passion for cooking, creating delicious meals that brought people together. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as fishing and spending time outdoors. Though known for his clumsiness, he possessed a genuine warmth and kindness that touched everyone he encountered. He was deeply loved by his family and friends and will be missed.
While his time with us was tragically cut short, Marcus's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. He leaves behind a legacy of laughter, love, and cherished memories.
He is survived by his loving fiancé, Alexis Chisholm, his devoted parents, Michael and Margaret Humphries, and his cherished son, Carson DeWayne as well as another baby on the way. Marcus also leaves behind his brothers, Lucas Spears and Michael Gauge Humphries, and his grandmothers, Peggy Spears and Pamela Pettifield, along with a host of family and friends who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, John Spears and Billy Humphries.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 2, 2025, in the Reed Chapel at Riley Smith & Sons, located at 315 N 14th Street, Kinder, Louisiana. Visitation will resume at 8:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 3, 2025, in the Reed Chapel. Rev Jimmy White will be officiating. Interment will follow at Green Oak Cemetery in Kinder, Louisiana.
