Rev. M. Russell
Hennigan
Sep 13, 1959 — Sep 22, 2026
To him, pastoring was more than a position, it was a calling and a privilege.
Rev. M. Russell Hennigan was born September 13, 1959, and passed away September 22, 2026, at the age of 67.
For 23 years, Pastor Russell faithfully pastored Kirbyville Apostolic Church in Kirbyville, Texas, where he loved his church family and poured his heart into the congregation. He faithfully preached the Word of God, encouraged those who were hurting, prayed for those in need, and served his church with a servant's heart. To him, pastoring was more than a position, it was a calling and a privilege.
Before becoming pastor in Kirbyville, Pastor Russell served as an assistant to Bro. Hoosier at Bethel Grove United Pentecostal Church in Merryville, Louisiana. Those years helped shape a lifetime of ministry and service. Pastor Russell also had a heart for prison ministry, carrying the message of hope and salvation to those who needed to hear that God had not forgotten them.
Pastor Russell was a hard-working man who spent years working as a logger. He understood the value of honest work, perseverance, and providing for those he loved. Away from the work and ministry, he enjoyed the simple things that brought him joy was hunting, fishing, and riding Harley - Davidson motorcycles. But above all, his greatest treasures were his wife, his children, and his grandchildren.
Pastor Russell had a special place in his heart for young ministers and evangelists. He was always willing to lend a hand, offer encouragement, share wisdom, or simply believe in someone who was just beginning their journey in ministry. He gave freely, not only of his finances and possessions, but also of his time, his knowledge, his prayers, and his heart. He was a giver in every sense of the word. Pastor Russell looked for opportunities to bless others.
Above all, Pastor Russell loved the Lord and loved preaching His Word. His faith was not simply something he spoke about; it was something he lived. He believed in the power of prayer, the importance of the church, and the saving grace of Jesus Christ.
He is survived by his wife, Cheri Lesa Hennigan; children, Malcolm Hennigan Jr., Jessica Williams, Willie Hennigan and wife Rhonda, Debra Hennigan, Cassy Frazier and husband Chris, and Cody West and husband Brian; grandchildren, Kaylee Coleman and husband Andrew, Saydee Messer and husband Jesse, Shaylee Loewer and husband Trey, Morgan Neal, Kenli Culley, Trevor Culley, Eastyn Williams, Brody West, Payton Hennigan, Mikey Culley, Olivia Culley, Dakota Strickland, and Makayla Strickland; numerous great grandchildren; mother, Bonnie Whitney; and sister, Chrissie Doyle.
