Oct 9, 1957 — Feb 24, 2026
Lynn "Uncle Lynn" Hickman was born October 9, 1957, and passed away February 24, 2026, at the age of 68.
He was known for his loving and generous spirit. Caring to his core, he gave freely of his time, his knowledge, and his heart. His sense of humor could brighten even the heaviest day. Playful and full of life, he had a remarkable ability to make others feel at ease, often lifting spirits with a well-timed joke or warm smile.
For 31 years, he was a faithful and committed member of Apostolic Temple. His faith was the foundation of his life. Through worship, service, and fellowship, he demonstrated steadfast devotion and humility. He served not only with words, but with action, offering kindness, support, and unwavering belief in God's promises.
For 28 years, he served as a dedicated instructor at Houston City College, where he poured his heart into teaching and mentoring his students. His classroom was more than a place of learning, it was a space filled with encouragement, laughter, wisdom, and opportunity. He believed deeply in the potential of every student and worked tirelessly to help them achieve their goals. His impact reaches far beyond the campus, living on in the countless lives he shaped and inspired.
Above all, he cherished his family and friends. He leaves behind a legacy of love, integrity, faith, and service. Though he will be deeply missed, his memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who were blessed to know him.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Cindy Hickman; son, Jacob Hickman and wife Becca; grandchildren, Olivia, Katelynn, Benjamin, and Eleanor; and sisters, Lynette Turbeville and husband Dennis, and Lynee Fehler and husband Keith; sister-in-law, Tina Russell; brothers-in-law, Fred Cook and wife Susanne, and Chris Cook; mother-in-law, Shirley Cook; and along with many beloved nieces and nephews, both natural, and adopted.
