Layman Toussaint was born on April 9, 1937, in Raceland, Louisiana, and passed away on July 14, 2026, in Kinder, Louisiana, at the age of 89.
Layman proudly served his country in the United States Navy, retiring after twenty-one years of dedicated service. Following his military career, he worked for Boeing, the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, and the Jeff Davis Police and Sheriff Departments.
He loved fishing and enjoyed spending time outdoors. Layman was a quiet man who found joy in traveling, dancing, and sharing time with his family and friends.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Mary Nell Toussaint; stepchildren, Ambrus W. Boling and wife Monica, Whitney D. Boling, and Edick Boling and wife Keyna; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Loretha Pitts and Wilson Ballou and wife Emily; along with a host of family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Toussaint and Laura Uyssen Williams; four sisters, Ella May Robinson, Loubertha Allen, Ruby Barker, and Beatrice Toussaint; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Benjamin and Dolvina Ballou.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m., in the Reed Chapel - Riley Smith and Sons Funeral Home, Kinder, Louisiana. Funeral service will follow at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow in the Southwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, Jennings, Louisiana at 1:30 p.m.
