Obituary

Larry Joe Fountain was born September 3, 1948, and passed away April 21, 2026, at the age of 77.

He will be remembered as a kind and generous man who truly loved life and the people around him. Known to many as "Boss Man," he had a passion for going on cruises, fishing, and spending time on the river. He was an avid fan of LSU football and baseball, as well as the Houston Astros.

He proudly served his country in the United States Navy and was Commander at VFW Post 4759, where he showed his dedication to his fellow veterans and his community. He loved everyone and was always willing to help anyone in any way he could-even giving the shirt off his back to someone in need.

He loved his family and grandchildren deeply and believed firmly in his family being there for one another. He was always there for them, offering support, guidance, and unconditional love. His legacy is one of kindness, devotion, and a steadfast commitment to those he held closest. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his children, Shane Fountain and wife Wendi, Bryan Fountain, and Lindsay Fountain and husband John; grandchildren, Leanna Congdon and husband Lonnie, Kaylyn Maloney and husband Hunter, Colton Fountain, Daegan Fountain, and David Carte; great grandchildren, Raegan, Riley, Degan, Faith, Josie, and Laikyn; sisters, Betty Joe Albert and husband Ronnie, and Sharon Rose Gore; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Johnson Fountain; son, Jerry Ray Fountain; parents, Claude and Ola Mae Fountain; and brothers, Cletus "Moon" Fountain, Johnnie "Buck" Fountain, Clifford "Tip" Fountain, and Ernest "Dude" Fountain.

Family will receive friends from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m., Friday, April 24, 2026, and continuing from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 25, 2026, at Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. 4th Street, DeQuincy, Louisiana.
