Kent Mason Fontenot, Sr., a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2025, at the age of 70. Born on August 14, 1954, Kent lived a life rich in family, friendship, and the simple pleasures he cherished.

Kent's passions were many and deeply felt. He found joy in the outdoors, particularly hunting, and honed his culinary skills, delighting family and friends with his delicious cooking.  He was a devoted family man, and to his grandchildren, he was affectionately known as "Cookie Pawpaw," a testament to the sweetness and love he shared.  Each day, Kent shared coffee and conversation with his close friends.

Kent's life was a reflection of his kind and generous spirit. He will be deeply missed by his father, Mason Fontenot; Julie Fontenot; children, Dustin Shidla, Courtney Dupuis & husband, Mike, and Kent Fontenot, Jr., & wife, Kaylin; grandchildren, Isabell, Skylar, Emma, Abby, Avery, Brycen, Ellison, and Baker; siblings, Brenda Horner, Cythia Istre & husband, Rudy, and Dell Tullier & husband, Jay.

He is preceded in passing by his mother, Laura Mae Fontenot.

A special thank you to the Lake Charles Memorial ICU staff and nurse, Katie Chambley for showing such compassion in the caretaking of our loved one.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 18, 2025, in the Reed Chapel at Riley Smith & Sons, Kinder, Louisiana. Visitation will resume on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, from 10:00 a.m., until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m., in the Reed Chapel. Rev. Bellard will be officiating. Interment will follow at Jessie Johnson Cemetery, Kingsfarm, Louisiana.
