Joseph Absie
Demary
Dec 21, 1951 — Mar 14, 2026
Joseph Absie DeMary, known as J-Boy by family and friends, entered the presence of his Lord and Savior on March 14, 2026, at the age of 74. Born and raised in Lake Charles, Louisiana, where he spent most of his life, he later made his home in DeQuincy, Louisiana.
From his early days as a "Woodstock brother" in the vibrant 1960s and 1970s, Joseph's path led him to a profound encounter with Christ. A God-fearing man through and through, he immersed himself in studying Scripture and pursued theological education, earning the credentials to serve as a minister, though he chose not to hold a formal position. Instead, he felt called to reach those in need, ministering compassionately to drug addicts in Lake Charles and leading many to salvation in Jesus Christ, joyfully advancing God's Kingdom. He was deeply connected to Glad Tidings Church in Lake Charles for many meaningful years. Joseph's passion for the Gospel touched countless lives.
In his working years, Joseph was a dedicated operator in the local refineries, providing for his family with steady hands and a strong work ethic. Above all, he cherished God, his loved ones, the gift of music that filled his days, and the comforting companionship of his cats.
Joseph is preceded in death by his daughter Jennifer "Pookie" DeMary, his parents Earl DeMary and Elda Tramonte, and his brother Randy DeMary.
Left to cherish his memory are his son, Jamie Shon DeMary; his three grandchildren Donavon James, Brenna Claire, and Kenzi Brooke; his three siblings Earline Corbello, Diana Sonier, Sandra Woodard; and a wide circle of family and friends who were blessed by his gentle spirit, wisdom, and unwavering love.
"Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die." John 11:25-26
