Jason Wendell
Parker
Aug 9, 1960 — Aug 31, 2026
DeQuincy, Louisiana
Jason Wendell Parker was born on August 9, 1960, to James Calvin and Revanel Rachel Rainwater Parker, and went to be with the Lord on August 31, 2026.
Jason was preceded in death by his parents, James Calvin and Revanel Rachel Parker, sister, Mary Calva Jean Parker; brother, James Kenneth Parker.
Jason was survived by his wife of 43 years, Laurie Elizabeth Taylor Parker, daughter, Micca Rachele Parker (John Ellison); granddaughter, Jaila Rachele Parker (Seth Shirley); grandsons, Hunter Trace Parker and Taylor Bryant Remedies; great grandson, Greyson Lee Shirley and another blessing on the way; brothers, John "Porky" Alvin Parker, Sr. and Justin Randall Parker; and many nieces and nephews.
Jason was a college instructor for almost 18 years, where his gift of teaching touched many lives throughout the years.
Jason was an avid puddle hopper. He fished every puddle of water for miles around, no matter how large or small, if it had water in it, it was fished.
Jason loved hunting to say the least. From still hunting to hunting with dogs - it was a passion of his that God blessed many times over, in allowing him to provide for his family.
Jason was a gifted athlete. Shining as a basketball player, volleyball player, softball player, but his love was baseball. Having older siblings, Jason started playing baseball at age 5 with 7 and 8-year-olds. He was once again blessed with a gift of not only playing the game, but coaching the game, and teaching the game.
Jason just celebrated in 2026 the 50t Anniversary of the DHS Baseball program where he played on the school's first baseball team.
Jason started umpiring and coaching at 17 years old. He served in his local, district, state, and was currently serving as the Dixie Boys Baseball Commission/CEO. Jason was instrumental in starting the 13-
19 year-old boys program here and throughout the surrounding areas and also the 8-18-year old girls softball program here.
Jason has been instilling his knowledge and love of how to play the game in many young people's lives that will be felt for many years to come.
Jason accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior of his life and was baptized on September 18, 1988. Jason used all areas of his life even his sickness to tell others about Jesus. When ask how are you, his answer was always "Blessed."
Even though Jason would spread himself pretty thin, between working, coaching, and teaching lessons, he always found time for family. He was a family man - loved his wife - loved his children - loved his grandchildren-and there was that one great grand that came along one cold winter day in January 2021 that stole his Pappy's heart.
Always know that Jason loved much, and if somewhere throughout your life, you were touched by him, please know that you touched him.
The family will receive friends Saturday, September 5, 2026 from 12:00 p.m., until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 p.m., at Brushy Creek Baptist Church, 125 Brushy Creek Cemetery Road, Merryville, Louisiana.
