Jamie Rashaad Mitchell was born on February 20, 1979, in Berkeley, CA. His parents were Lynwood Armstrong and Sherri Gail Mitchell. He was also known by most of us in East Texas as "James".

Jamie was raised in Richmond, CA, but later moved to Sacramento CA, and that's where he graduated from Luther Burbank High School.

A very special time in his life was when he first learned about Jehovah and Bible truth, which he was introduced to by a family member. He dedicated his life to Jehovah and was baptized on November 4th, 2001.

Another special time in his life was when he met Melissa. He first met her in Laredo, TX, when they both were involved in the same occupation, truck driving, for the company CR England. They felt a deep connection immediately and began dating. They were married on September 30th, 2021.

They happily served Jehovah for a time in the Mount Pleasant Congregation before they moved to Hallsville to assist his mother in caring for his grandmother. At that time, they started attending the Eastman Congregation and was then asked by the traveling overseer to assist the Pine Tree Congregation, much to the Pine Tree congregation's delight.

Jamie brought immense joy and love into the lives of all who knew him. He always had a smile on his face that was infectious and lit up the room. As we all know, Jamie was a caretaker at heart and lovingly assisted his mother in caring for his beloved grandmother. He was caring, loving, and a devoted husband to Melissa. These qualities were also shown to his friends and spiritual family. He was always very kind and eager to help.

On December 31st, 2025, at the age of 46, James passed away. He is survived by his wife Melissa, his son Evan, his daughter Jazlie, his mother Sherri, and his brother Jason, along with many other family members and close friends.
