Obituary

James Ray Matson (aka Jim) was a passionate husband and loving father with a spirit that sought after the Lord. Jim had a beautiful deep faith and was always sharing his testimony with anyone who wanted to listen. Jim was retired from Consumers Power nuclear plant, and he lived a simple life. He was an avid tool collector; he would spend hours tinkering in his shop, usually teaching a grandkid how to use a hammer or drill. Jim was a member of Revive Church in Coloma, Michigan and eventually a member of Vineyard Lake Charles in Louisiana. He had a servant's heart and would serve his churches by providing his expertise in maintenance and construction. Jim was loved by all who met and knew him, and he passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by his family.

He is preceded in death by his father, Irwin Ward Matson.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years Shelly Matson; his mother Connie Dolezan; his siblings, Jack (brother) and Lana Matson, Dean Allen Matson (brother), and Bethann Matson (Cowell) (sister), and his four children, Wendy Matson and her husband Ryan Haines, Shawn Matson and his wife Lauren, Shauna Sarver and her husband Chris, and Jessica Clements.

He was Pawpaw Jim to ten beautiful grandchildren, Ashton, Harper, Violet, Lillian, Allison, Nolan, Evelyn, Donald, Isaiah and Isabelle.
