Jacqueline (Jackie) Savant Mills passed away on July 28th, 2025, at the age of 68. Jackie was a lifelong resident of Kinder.
Born in 1957, she was one of six children. She inherited her father's green thumb, had a passion for hard work and was an absolute magician with soil, if it could be planted, Jackie could grow it. Incredibly intelligent and a master of countless crafts. Her life was rooted in hard work, love, positivity, and discipline. This was nowhere more evident than the love for her husband and her family.
Jackie was married to her husband for 48 years and had been together for 52. They are affectionately known throughout the community as "Grammy and Granddad." Together they are the grandparents of an entire generation of friends and athletes throughout the area. Family was Jackie's number one passion and her expertise. We now understand that God's goal for her on this Earth was to be the Matriarch of a loving family. She exceedingly completed this mission without exception. Her legacy clearly demonstrates the lasting foundation that she led by example for her children and grandchildren. Her lessons were faith, love, and loyalty. She encouraged it, she preached it, and she lived it. She did not mince words, yet her raw truth touched many because of the kindness in which she spoke it and the heartfelt place from which it came. Her motto was "if it's the truth, you can say it."
Jackie always repeated "I am so blessed," it was not a boast but rather a declaration of gratitude to our Lord Jesus Christ for the life bestowed upon her. Her recognition of this blessing was passed through and cemented in her loved ones.
Her work here is complete, her final craft was the strength of the family, which she once again mastered.
She is survived by her husband and best friend Harold "Scott" Mills, her three children Kim (Kevin) Tyler, Candice (Brian) Rice, and Bryan (Meagan) Mills. Also, her ten grandchildren Madisen (Bryce) Reed, Lindsey (Dylan) Montgomery, Landen Rice, Emily Mills, Xander Rice, Blair Mills, Demi Rice, Evie Rice, Thomas Mills and Hayes Ryan Mills, as well as two great grandchildren (Karter and Adalyn Reed). In addition, her five siblings, Jan (Wade) Roberts, Tez (Bill) Marcantel, Scott (DeeDee) Savant, Rusty (Cindy) Savant, Keith (Heidi) Savant. Her brother-in-law David (Paige) Mills and Mother-in-Law Brenda Mills.
Jackie is preceded in death by her mother and Father, Bill and Lillie Savant. As well as her father-in-law, Jack Mills, Brother-in-law Kevin Mills, Mother-in-law Beverly Simonsen. Grandparents, Joe & Lucy Bellon and Euric Sr & Zelma Savant.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 5, 2025, from 8:00 a.m. - 1:15 p.m., a Rosary will begin at 9:00 a.m., in the Reed Chapel at Riley Smith & Sons, 315 N 14th Street, Kinder, Louisiana. A funeral mass will begin at 2:00 p.m. at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, 607 4th Avenue, Kinder, Louisiana. Father Alan Trouille will be officiating. Interment will follow at Indian Village Cemetery, Indian Village, Louisiana.
