Obituary

Frank Glenis Core was born on January 6, 1954, and passed away on May 26, 2026, at the age of 72. Born in Hammond, Louisiana, Frank was a longtime resident of Hackberry, where he built a life centered around hard work, family, and the simple things he loved most. He worked in the oilfield and as a pipefitter at Cities Service in Sulphur before spending many years as a pipeline mechanic at the West Hackberry Strategic Petroleum Reserve. Anyone who knew Frank knew there was nothing he loved more than his two boys, Brandon and Trent. He was endlessly proud of them and bragged on them any chance he got, and the same was true when his five grandkids came along. In his spare time, you could usually find Frank at Delta Downs, folded race program in hand, yelling and running alongside the fence as the horses flew past him, or parked in front of the television cheering them on as if they could hear him. One of the proudest moments of his life - second only to marrying the love of his life, Letha Mae - was walking "his lil' daughter," Opal, down the aisle at his son's wedding. Frank also had a special love for his pets and treasured the many dogs he cared for over the years, never failing in recent years to ask how his beloved Willow was doing.

Those left to cherish Frank's memory are his wife of 53 years, Letha Nunez Core; children, Brandon Core and wife Opal, and Trent Core; grandchildren, Sebastian Core and wife Jordan, Isabela Core, Olivia Core, Lucia Core, and Maximilian Core; great grandson, Hanes Core; siblings, Gwen Robertson and husband Frank, Twana Harris and husband Anthony, and Brad Core; sisters-in-law, Louella Nunez and Hattie Nunez Morales; numerous nieces and nephews; and his dog, Willow.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank "Sonny" and Ella Mae Harris Core; brother, Will Core; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Rodolph and Eunice Nunez; brothers-in-law, Leroy Nunez and Bobbie Billeaud; and his grandparents, Ralph and Vertilee Core, who raised him.

Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the rosary at 12:00 p.m. with the memorial service immediately following, Saturday, May 30, 2026, at the New Hackberry Community Center, Hackberry, Louisiana. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
