Ermin Fontenot, born April 10, 1935, in Kings Farm, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2026, in Kinder, Louisiana, at the age of 91.
Ermin was a godly man whose life was marked by faith, service, and devotion to the Lord. He was faithful to his church, served wherever he was needed, and lived with a kingdom-minded heart. Over the years, he helped build churches and poured himself into work that reflected his love for God and others.
He deeply loved his wife and family and was a supportive father who taught his children by both word and example. A hardworking man, Ermin was also known for his joyful spirit, quick laughter, jokes, and playful pranks. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, fishing, and spending time outdoors. He also loved his faithful guard dog, Teddy. Ermin proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 69 years, Shirley Fontenot; his children, John Trobaugh and wife Cindy, Karen Martin and husband Keith, David Fontenot and wife Christine, and Deanna Cavenah and husband Pastor Greg Cavenah; nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; brother, Norman "Blackie" Fontenot; along with a host of extended family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, David and Daisy Buller Fontenot; his grandchild, Carissa; his great-grandchild, Halli; and his siblings, Ella Fontenot, Franklin Fontenot, Elliot Fontenot, Dudley Fontenot, and Mason Fontenot.
Visitation will be held at Riley Smith & Sons - Kinder, 315 N. 14th Street, Kinder, Louisiana on Sunday, June 21st, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., then on Monday, June 22nd, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Greg Cavenah will be officiating. Interment will follow in the Jessie Johnson Cemetery, Kinder, Louisiana.
Reception will be held in the Smith Hall-Kinder, 315 N. 14th Street, Kinder, Louisiana Monday, 22nd, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:30 p.m.
