Erma Delores
"Betty" Jaynes

Erma Delores "Betty" Jaynes of Orange, Texas, passed peacefully at her daughter's home, Sunday, March 22, 2026. She was 97.
Born and raised in Olive Hill, Kentucky, she married Claude "Jack" Jaynes in 1946 and soon made the long trip by train to start a life in Orange, Texas. While she began work as a switchboard operator after starting a family, her life's calling of raising children and grandchildren was soon realized. Her lasting legacy is her dedication to family and all the children she had a hand in rearing.
Betty leaves behind three children, Jeanne Young and husband Jimmy, Dempsey Jaynes and wife Mary Ann, and Marty Jaynes and wife Carrie; grandchildren, Troy Green and wife Deesie, Slade Green and wife Christie, Brian Jaynes and wife Kim, Brandon Jaynes and wife Ali, Adam Jaynes and wife Carley, Taylor Jaynes, and Connor Jaynes and significant other Carley; great grandchildren, Aric Green and wife Megan, Megan McLeroy and husband Mitch, Makenzie Robinson and husband Cole, Gavin Green and wife Macie, Tenley Jaynes, Fisher Jaynes, Gabriella Jaynes, Maizey Jaynes, Maryn Jaynes, Tristian Jaynes, Callen Jaynes; and great great grandchildren, Willow Green, Caysen Green, Brooklyn McLeroy, Brayden McLeroy, Beckham Robinson, and Bennett Robinson.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Jerome and Lula Mae Bocook; siblings, James, Bobby, Barbara, and Jack; and her husband of more then fifty years, Jack Jaynes. Although he passed in 1998, Betty always remained loyal to his memory as he was the love of her life.
She was affectionately known as Mamaw by family and friends alike. She will be greatly missed, but we find solace and peace knowing that she has lived a full life and will reunite with Papaw in the glory of everlasting life in heaven.
Private graveside service will be held for immediate family at a later date.
We extend a special thank you to Southeast Texas Hospice for all of the wonderful care and support over her final days.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Southeast Texas Hospice, 912 West Cherry Avenue, Orange, Texas 77630.
