Edith Gay Nixon was born May 15, 1957, and passed away September 5, 2025, at the age of 68.

She is survived by her brother, Gordon Nixon, and wife Eileen, and Michael Nixon and wife Faye; stepsister, Brooke Dovgan; nephews who were like sons to her, Joshua Datenhoff and wife Kandie, Gordon Datenhoff and wife Jennifer, and Nicholas Datenhoff and his wife Kandace; nephew, Richard Nixon(Ricky); nieces, Angela Kiser and husband Troy, Tina Sorrells and husband Steven, and Lauren Nixon and husband Courtney; as well as many great-nieces and nephews.


She is preceded in death by her parents, Gordon Nixon, Jr. and Juanita Nixon; sister, Dee Dee Burgin.

Edith was known for being friendly, outgoing, and devoted to her family. She never met a stranger and was loved by everyone who knew her. Her nieces and nephews meant the world her, and she was affectionately known as "YaYa" to them. She will be deeply missed.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, September 9, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. in the Reed Chapel at Riley Smith & Sons, 315 N 14th Street, Kinder, Louisiana. Brother Pugh will be officiating. Interment will follow at Harmony Cemetery.
