Douglas Neal
Watkins, Sr.
Aug 23, 1940 — May 23, 2025
Reeves- Douglas Neal Watkins, Sr., a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and man of unwavering faith, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2025, at the age of 84. Born on August 23, 1940, Doug lived a life marked by quiet nature, and deep wisdom.
Doug served his country with distinction in the United States Air Force. Following his service, he pursued his calling to ministry, becoming an ordained minister who touched the lives of many. His faith was the bedrock of his life, guiding his actions and shaping his gentle spirit.
A man of few words but profound insight, Doug chose his words carefully. He possessed a dry wit that brought smiles to those who knew him well, and his well-educated mind was evident in his conversations. Doug was a loyal friend, known for his genuine connections; his affections were deep and unwavering, though he wasn't one to offer them lightly. His friendships were a testament to the strength of his character.
He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Deborah Alice Gastmeier Watkins; son, Douglas Neal Watkins, Jr, & wife, Allyson; grandchildren, Ashley Watkins and Danielle Watkins; great grandchild, Layla Bowen; sisters, Ruth Ann Stalter and Sherry Elson & husband, Doug; a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
He is preceded in passing by his parents, David & Nellie Ruth Watkins; first wife, Glenda Gill Watkins and his second wife, Ettamae Perkins Watkins; children, Lori Watkins, Denise Watkins, and Dennis Watkins; brothers, Thomas "Tom" Watkins, David Watkins, and Donald "Don" Watkins.
