Donald Raymond Savant was born January 16, 1941, and passed away March 21, 2026, at the age of 85.
Donald served in the United States Military for 25 years where he was in Vietnam and Germany several times. He became First Sergeant and worked in Fort Polk for 21 years.
He leaves behind a legacy of love, craftsmanship, and cherished memories. He found joy in life's simple pleasures, whether it was casting a line out on the water, shaping leather with skilled hands, or creating lasting pieces through his woodworking.
Above all, Donald treasured his family. He was a devoted father, a proud grandfather, and someone who found his greatest happiness surrounded by his children, grandchildren, and loved ones. His warmth, patience, and quiet strength touched everyone who knew him.
He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for the life he built, the things he made, and the love he shared so generously.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Elisabeth Savant; son, Robert Savant; daughter, Patricia McNeill; grandchildren, Raymond Savant and wife Emily, Lacee Slayter and husband Will, and Megan Snuffer and husband Rocky; great grandchildren, Wesley Savant, Cooper Slayter, Brynlee Slayler, Reagan Snuffer, and Rachel Snuffer; brothers, Clifford Savant and Gene Savant; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Corrina Pfantz Savant; parents, Floyd and Anasita Savant; siblings, Floyd Savant, Lawrence Savant, Florence Chapman, and Patsy Savant; and niece, Priscilla Bergeron.
Family will receive friends from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 24, 2026, and continuing from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at First United Methodist Church, DeRidder, Louisiana. Rev. Laraine Waughtal will be officiating. Interment to follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, DeRidder, Louisiana.
