Doctor Rev.
Bobbie Duncan, Sr.
Aug 25, 1927 — Feb 9, 2025
Oberlin- Doctor Rev. Bobbie Duncan, Sr., was born on August 25, 1927, and he passed away on, February 9, 2025, at the age of 97.
Bobbie dedicated his life to serving others, both in the military and in his community. He proudly served his country as Staff Sergeant E6 in the United States Army, retiring honorably in 1965. Bobbie found his true calling in ministry, spreading the Gospel with unwavering faith and infectious joy. He was a gifted preacher, known for his uplifting sermons and heartfelt prayers. His devotion to God was matched only by his devotion to his family and community. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, offering support and comfort to anyone in need.
He was a loving husband, a devoted father, and a cherished grandfather, bestowing each grandchild with a unique nickname and showering them with generous love and gifts. His grandchildren were the recipients of his boundless affection and generosity. He treasured simple pleasures: morning walks, relaxing on the porch with a cup of coffee, singing hymns, and sharing laughter and love with those he held dear. His culinary preferences were as unique and warm as his personality; he held a special fondness for Wangs and ribs. His favorite song, Tyrone Davis' "Give it up, turn it loose," perfectly captured his joyful spirit.
He is survived by his wife of almost 49 years, Jennie Thompson Duncan; children, Robin Peshak & husband, Keith, Bobbie Duncan, LaChanda Dupard & husband, Reggie, Donita Duncan Gradney & husband, J.D. Sr., Chalanda Duncan Wilson & husband, Shandrecus, and Bobbie Duncan, Jr.; 11 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; siblings, Annie D. Bowdry, Anderson Willie Duncan, and Bismark Duncan; a host of family and friends.
