She will be remembered for her faith, her generous heart, her love of family, and the joy she brought to those around her.
Dayna Patrice Matt, age 56, passed away on July 28, 2026. She was born on December 3, 1969 in Lake Charles, LA, to Roger Dale Boswell and Laura Janice Brown.
Dayna was a believer in Christ whose life reflected love, warmth, and devotion to her family. She made a profession in her faith at Reeves Baptist Church, where she had a love for children and services on Wednesday nights. She loved staying home and raising her babies, and she treasured every opportunity to gather loved ones together. Whether hosting family gatherings, preparing meals, enjoying barbecues, or inviting everyone over, Dayna made people feel welcome and cared for. She grew up in Reeves where she attended Reeves High School to 11th grade, and she graduated from Kinder High School with the class of 1987.
Dayna worked at the hospital for many years and also taught preschool, touching many lives through her care, patience, and kindness. She enjoyed watching her brothers, spending time with her nieces, nephews, and grandbabies, working crossword puzzles, keeping up with the weather, and watching cooking shows. She loved Sonic Diet Cokes and was known for cooking for the fire department and bringing food and goods whenever she could. She loved coaching little dribblers with her dad and loved helping her mom make flower arrangements for special occasions. She loved using her talents to help others.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph Shane Matt; her mother, Laura Janice Brown; her children, Shaina Brianne Marcantel and husband Blake, Ashlyn Patrice Gillard and husband Sean, and Tristan Jay Wilson Matt; and her grandchildren, Stetson Lane, Lexie, Ryan, Alan Joseph "AJ," and Hunter Jade.
She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Braelyn, Jacelyn, Aimee, Allie, Anna, Abby, Addy, Alexis, Zack, and Cody; and her siblings, Brandon Walker "Unk" Boswell and wife Cyndi, Joshua David Boswell and wife Amanda, and Jarred Michael Boswell and wife Alana.
Dayna was preceded in death by her father, Roger Dale Boswell; brother, Bradley Paul Boswell; grandparents, Wilson and Pat Brown from Mittie, Louisiana, and Rev. Elmer and Pauline Boswell from Lake Charles, LA.
She will be remembered for her faith, her generous heart, her love of family, and the joy she brought to those around her.
