David Lynn Smith Jr was born October 7, 1958, and passed away September 21, 2026, at the age of 67.

David was a loving man who enjoyed the simple things in life, especially spending time outdoors. He loved deer hunting, hog hunting, fishing, and anything that allowed him to be outside enjoying the great outdoors.

David also had a passion for rebuilding trucks and taking them mud riding. He enjoyed working with his hands and turning his ideas into something he could be proud of.

Above all, David loved his family. They were his greatest pride and joy, he cherished the time he spent with them, and he loved to make people laugh. He was also very proud of his business, Smith Construction, which was a reflection of his hard work, dedication, and determination.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Tammie Smith; daughter, Taylor Smith; beloved family pet, Elvis; brother, John L. Smith and wife Shelli; sister, Melinda Smith; nieces and nephew, Lauren Galvan, Samantha Sexton, and Josh Briggs; sister-in-law, Melodie King and husband Gene; and numerous extended family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Lindsey Smith; parents, David Sr and Bea Smith; and sister-in-law, Janie Sarver.

Family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 25, 2026, at Dorman - Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 8808 Highway 87 North, Orange, Texas. Graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Friday, September 25, 2026, at Autumn Oaks Cemetery, Orange, Texas.
