Cindy Cecilia Duplichan Welch, age 70, passed away on February 2, 2026, in Lafayette, Louisiana. Born on March 16, 1955, in Kinder, Louisiana, Cindy was the beloved daughter of Wilfred "Fred" Duplichan and Gladys. She lived a life rooted in strong faith as a devoted Christian in the Catholic tradition, and her compassion was evident in her dedication to people with special needs.

Cindy cherished time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, finding joy and fulfillment in their presence. Her love for her family was unwavering, and she was known for her warm smile that often accompanied a cup of coffee. Cindy's gentle spirit and caring nature touched many lives, both within her family and in her community.

She is survived by her loving husband, Charles "Chuck" Welch; children, Melody LaFleur (Joe), Kellie Chamberlain (Jeffrey), Nick Welch (Jade), and Brandy Barrilleaux (Scott); grandchildren, Lexie, Brandon, J.J., Jeff, Jeffrey, Matt, Jaslynn, Emma, Brooks, Carter, Grant, Alyse, Sophie, and Scott; great-grandchildren, J.T., Ava, Lincoln, Wesley, Kasey, and Mallory. Cindy also leaves behind her siblings, Reggie Duplichan (Debbie), Gwen Saucier (Eddie), and Jennifer Marcantel (Leonard); and a host of extended family and friends who will fondly remember her kindness and faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilfred "Fred" Duplichan and Gladys, as well as her brother, Sherwin Duplichan.


Family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary being held at 6:00 p.m., in the Reed Chapel, at Riley Smith & Sons, 315 N. 14th Street, Kinder, Louisiana, then on Thursday, February 5, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will take place Thursday, February 5, 2026, at 2:00 p.m., at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, Kinder, Louisiana, with Bishop Doug Deshotel officiating. Interment will follow at Green Oak Cemetery, Kinder.
