Charles Townsend Sr. was born January 10, 1946, and passed away December 1, 2025, at the age of 79.

He is survived by his wife, Mabel Townsend; children, Melanie Wheeler, Rev. Charles Townsend Jr. and wife Tammy, and Rev. Chad Townsend and wife Joy; grandchildren, Rev. Joshua Wheeler and wife Jessica, Bethany Lawson and husband, Rev. Calvin, Olyvia Wheeler, Logan Townsend and wife Angelica, Thad Townsend and wife Destiny, Anna Willis and husband Dawson, Austin Townsend, Aiddin Townsend, Eli Townsend, and Charles "Judah" Townsend; 15 great grandchildren; along with numerous other family members and loved ones.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Elra and Ophie Townsend; 4 brothers; and 1 sister.

Family will receive friends from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 3, 2025, and continuing from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 4, 2025, at First United Pentecostal Church of Rayville, 3846 US-80, Rayville, Louisiana. Rev. Charles Townsend Jr., Rev. Chad Townsend, and Rev. Joshua Wheeler will be officiating. Interment to follow at Northeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, 2412 US-425, Rayville, Louisiana.
