Ruth Kuntz Unkel, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2025, at the age of 92. Born on January 21, 1933, Ruth lived a vibrant life filled with love, faith, and adventure.
A devoted Catholic and cherished member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, Ruth's strong beliefs guided her throughout her life. She spoke her mind, led with confidence, and was known affectionately as the "boss lady" among her family and friends. Ruth's independence and spirit touched everyone who knew her.
Ruth's passions included deer hunting and mastering the game of bridge. She was an active member of the local garden club, breast cancer survivors' group and SLI Red Coats, and participated in the Little Rock Scripture Study. Her warmth and energy enriched every group she joined.
She is survived by her loving children: Hine Unkel and wife Jane, Kurt Unkel and wife Karen, Peter Unkel and wife Valerie, David Unkel and wife Renee, and Eric Unkel and wife Cathy, along with a host of family and friends who will miss her dearly.
Ruth was preceded in death by her devoted husband, C.H. "Buddy" Unkel; her parents, Charlie and Freda Walter Kuntz; and her siblings, Wanda Johnson, Carroll Kuntz, and Mary Louise Livingston.
Family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary being held at 6:00 p.m., in the Reed Chapel, at Riley Smith & Sons, 315 N. 14th Street, Kinder, Louisiana. The Mass of Christian Burial will take place, on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, Kinder, Louisiana. Father Alan Trouille will be officiating. Interment to follow at Carter Memorial Cemetery, Kinder. A reception will follow from 12:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., in the Smith Hall.
