Obituary

Calvin Joseph Broussard, Sr., a veteran, and longtime electrician, devoted family man, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2026, at the age of 76. He was born on July 16, 1949 To Mary Edoll Granger in Lake Charles, Louisiana.


Calvin proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. After his military service, he dedicated 38 years to Citgo Refinery as a master electrician, where he was known for his skill, reliability, and strong work ethic.


A lifelong Catholic, Calvin was a faithful member of St. John Bosco Catholic Church in Westlake, Louisiana. He was actively involved in the Knights of Columbus and cherished attending A.C.T.S. retreats, which deepened his faith and community connections.


Calvin found great joy in family life and he was known for his sarcasm and funny personality. He loved hosting family gatherings and never missed cheering on his loved ones at their sporting events. As a recreational football coach, he inspired young athletes with his guidance and enthusiasm. He also held a black belt in karate, reflecting his discipline and commitment to personal growth.


Above all, Calvin was a passionate advocate for education, always encouraging others-especially the younger generations-to pursue schooling and further their knowledge.
He leaves behind a legacy of love, service, faith, and unwavering support for his family and community. Calvin will be deeply missed by all who knew him.


Calvin is survived by his wife, Angie Broussard; children, Terra Dixon & Jessie, Terry Broussard, Benjamin Broussard, CJ Broussard Jr. & Za'n, Carmen Broussard, and Joseph Broussard; grandchildren, Olivia, Isaiah, Aaliyah, Zaria, Trent, Sharlee, and Emery; siblings, Uria Hunter & Milton, Donia Broussard & Rapheal, and Deirdre Lemelle & James; a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

He is preceded in passing by his mother, Mary Edoll Broussard Granger and his step father, Howard Granger; sister, Andrea Granger.

Family will receive friends Friday, March 6, 2026 from 8:00 -10:00 a.m., with a rosary beginning at 9:00 a.m., at Riley Smith & Sons, 517 Broad Street, Lake Charles, Louisiana. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., at St. John Bosco Catholic Church, 1301 Sampson Street, Westlake, Louisiana. Interment will immediately follow at Southwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, 1610 Evangeline Road, Jennings, Louisiana.
