Bobby Jean
Duplechin
Dec 17, 1934 — Feb 26, 2023
Bobby Jean Rider Duplechin was born in Oberlin, Louisiana on December 17,1934, to Hadley and Elday Rider. She lived a full life of 88 years and was welcomed home by her heavenly family on Sunday, February 26, 2023.
Bobby grew up in Oberlin with her three brothers, John Dempsey, Oscar Ray, and Huey Lee. After attending high school, she married the love of her life, Roger, and they settled in Kinder where they raised their five children.
Apart from the full-time job of raising five children, creating a loving home, and supporting her husband, Bobby was an accomplished seamstress, quilter, and long-time member of the CFMA, where she loved to dance and celebrate her Cajun culture. Some of her greatest past times were camping, fishing, and traveling.
She was a member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church and continued her personal spiritual growth by participating in the Cursillo movement for several years.
Even with her recent health issues, it would be wrong to say that Bobby lost her battle because she never stopped fighting. She was always determined. Through her, the family learned what resilience and perseverance should look like. There was no "quit" in Bobby. Just because she is no longer here doesn't mean she lost her fight.
Those left to cherish her memory are her five children; Jennifer Manuel & husband, Nolton of Oberlin, Gary Duplechin & wife, Monica of Kinder, Cindy Trobaugh & husband, John of Kinder, Dennis Troy Duplechin of Dry Creek, Delana Duplechin and Gary McElwee of Kinder; 16 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren.
Bobby was preceeded in death by her husband, Roger; parents; Hadley & Elday Rider; brothers; John, Oscar, and Huey; three grandchildren, Halli, Ian, and Brandon; one great grandchild, Ashton.
