Althea Bertrand was born on March 15, 1952, and passed away on May 8, 2026, at the age of 74.

Althea Bertrand found happiness in the simple joys of life and the people she loved most. She loved spending her time fishing and crabbing, making many treasured memories outdoors doing what brought her peace and happiness. She also enjoyed reading and could often be found with a good book in hand. Above all, Althea dearly loved her family and cherished every moment spent with them, especially her great-grandchildren, who brought so much joy to her life. She was also a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan and enjoyed cheering on her favorite team every chance she got.


She is survived by her loving husband Collins Bertrand Sr. of 52 years; children, Jenny Bertrand, Collins Bertrand Jr., and Elizabeth Bertrand (John); Sisters, Ada Chaisson, and Lori Broussard; Sister and brother in-laws, Jeanette and Don Fontenot, and Perch and Henrietta Bertrand; godmother, Tina Rogers; grandchildren, Heather Roussell, Darrell Hackley, Brittany Arnold, and Johnny Roussell; great grandchildren, Shane Diaz, Abel Rivera, and Jenesis Hackley Rivera.

She is preceded by her parents, Louis and Lethea Martin; brother, William Martin; son, Wesley Bertrand; father and mother in-law, Wesley and Eunice Bertrand; brother and sister in-laws, Darrell Chaisson, Peewee Broussard, Shirley Bertrand, and Joyce Arceneaux; grandfather, Pete Moro; sister, Mada Martin.



A Celebration of life will be held at a later date.
